The house's smoke alarm warned the woman occupant who was able to put it out herself.

Ashford firefighters arrived to make sure the scene was safe.

They had been called out at 5.03pm on Sunday (Sep 20).

Watch manager Jim Smart said: "We would advise people not to leave cooking unattended.

"They should also not try to put out a fire themselves but get out of the property and call us."

Crews said this had been a small fire that was limited to the saucepan itself.

Two fire engines were initially called out but only one was found to be needed and firefighters were only at the scene for 20 minutes.
