STAFF and students past and present have been contributing to a book of tributes in memory of a deputy head teacher who has died after losing a battle with bowel cancer.

Carol Webb taught at The Towers School, in Faversham Road, Kennington, Ashford, for 15 years.

Head teacher Malcolm Ramsey said: “Carol was fantastically popular with the children because she did so much for them. She will be greatly missed by all her colleagues who held her in their greatest respect and affection.”

Mrs Webb, 54, who lived in Fisher Road, Hythe, had been deputy head teacher at the school for four years and assistant head teacher before that.

A keen artist and walker and a PE and art teacher by trade, she was also a member of the Kennington Forum.

The school is now compiling a book of commemoration which pupils, parents and colleagues have signed.

Mr Ramsey added: “Carol was an excellent teacher and had a genuine love of young people. She was incredibly resilient, always cheerful and thrived on challenge, especially in difficult circumstances.”

Mrs Webb previously taught at Chatham South School and Sidcup School for Girls.

A school memorial service will be held at All Saints' Church, Boughton Aluph, at 5pm on Wednesday, October 18.
