Hythe Town manager Scott Porter has hailed the capture of Craig Cloke as a "quality signing".
It could be the only piece of transfer business the Hythe boss does this summer, after failing to sign a striker.
Cloke, the former Margate defender, has signed a one-year deal, the fifth player under contract at Reachfields and Porter (pictured) said: "We want to push on after a great first season in the Ryman League Division 1 South and I wanted to make two quality additions.
"I missed out on the other one who decided to go elsewhere but Craig fits the bill on and off the field. He is bubbly character who will be good for the dressing room.
"We can’t keep changing things every season and didn’t need to change a great deal."
Midfielder Kieran Byrne has decided to leave the club for family reasons. The 26-year-old midfielder made the decision following a chat with Porter.
The Hythe boss added: "He went away to think things over and then rang to tell me. He has done the club proud and there are no hard feelings."
Goalkeeper Kieron Mann is looking at other offers after losing his first-team spot to American Dean Ruddy.
