Scott Porter admits that Hythe Town’s failure to win a game so far in March has seriously damaged their season.
Tuesday night’s goalless draw at bottom-of-the-table Whyteleafe in Ryman 1 South means that Hythe have picked up just two points from four games since the start of the month, after enjoying a nine-match unbeaten run.
Porter said: "It was another frustrating night and it just summed up our month really.
"We should still be unbeaten because we should have got something out of the two games we lost against Whitehawk and Godalming, and you obviously expect to beat Sittingbourne and Whyteleafe.
"These four games have put a big dent in our play-off hopes, to be honest, but if you don’t take your chances and aren’t clinical enough, you don’t get your rewards and that is what has been happening."
This Saturday, Hythe go from bottom to top with an away game at Bognor Regis.
Porter added: "I’ve said to the lads that we’ve done well to get where we are in our first season in this league, and until it’s mathematically impossible we’ve got to keep trying for a play-off place."
Kieran Byrne (unavailable), Lee Winfield (injured) and Craig Thompson (suspended) will all be missing at Bognor, but striker Thompson will be available for Tuesday’s visit to Walton & Hersham after completing a three-game ban.
