Scott Porter hailed Hythe’s first-ever Kent Senior Cup victory against holders Dartford on Tuesday as "massive and special" for everyone involved in the club.
Skipper Dave Cook’s early penalty proved the match-winner at Princes Park in a 1-0 win, as the Reachfields club capped a marvellous 12 months and Porter hopes this success is the first of many.
The victory champagne was carried onto the pitch in a supermarket carrier bag, but Porter (pictured) said: "That’s how we are. We done it together, won it together, and hopefully we can win many more things in the future.
"We won it the hard way, and nobody can take it away from us. They say the competition has died a bit in the past, but it hasn’t this year with the likes of Charlton and Gillingham both involved.
He added: "Dartford showed us a lot of respect, with the team they put out. We knew they like to go back to front quickly, and we wanted to give ourselves a chance by getting in their faces.
"It caps a great season for us – it’s been a long journey, but we can now build on this next year so much, and winning it on Dartford’s own ground is fantastic.
"Winning the Kent League was a dramatic thing for everybody, and was a long slog, but beating teams like Ebbsfleet and Dover and coming to grounds like this and turning teams over, has got to be one of the best things I have ever done in my football career.
"It’s all about the club, and I am just so pleased we did it for the fans, and are taking the cup home."
Hythe finish the season with a trip to Merstham on Saturday – the two sides bidding for a win to seal eighth place in the table.
