Scott Porter looking to bolster Hythe Town's attacking options

Hythe boss Scott Porter is already starting to turn his attentions to building for next season.

A striker is top of his wish-list and that need was highlighted over the weekend after losing both Easter fixtures without scoring a goal.

Porter’s side followed up a 1-0 defeat to Walton Casuals by losing to local rivals Folkestone 2-0 – in a match that Porter felt his side deserved something from.

"We had our chances but that’s been our problem recently – we haven’t been clinical enough," he said.

"We hit the bar twice against Folkestone and their keeper made one great save but two individual mistakes cost us and they capitalised.

"The lads have certainly come a long way since the Boxing Day game (where they lost 8-0 to Folkestone) but we need a goalscorer without a doubt."

Hythe captain Dave Cook returns to the side this weekend against bottom-placed Burgess Hill on Saturday after completing a ban.

"We missed him on Monday (against Folkestone)," said Porter. "He gets forward and scores goals. He’s our leading scorer and is going to be missed."
