Girls aged 17 to 24 are being encouraged to enter the Miss Ashford competition, in the hope of striving for the crown of Miss England.
Local girls who have already entered include Shamiso Burt, 19, pictured right, a tourism and business management student, She was Miss Maidstone 2007 and entered the Miss Kent 2009 contest.
Another is Catriona Robinson, 21, an international relations student at the Open University who is also in full-time work.
A third is Gloria Mutaburaka, 17, a college student keen on a career in business management.
Organiser Angie Beasley said: “We are looking for a winner will stand out from the crowd, has lots of personality, inspires others and has confidence as well as beauty.”
From all the entries 20 Miss Ashford finalists will be selected for the public vote than will then shortlist the top 10 girls to be put forward to a panel of judges.
The winner will represents Ashford in the Miss England semi-final next year.
