Ashford residents have been struggling to cope with a heavy overnight snowfall that saw many schools shut for the day and scores of side and country roads turned into skidpans.

The overnight snow was added to throughout Thursday by extra snowfalls.

Many people took the day off work - either because they couldn't get there or to stay at home to look after their children whose schools had closed.

Operation Stack was introduced on the M20 motorway with motorists reporting horror journeys to get from Ashford to places like Maidstone and Folkestone.
