Ashford: Speed cameras set up on M20 as Junction 10a work begins

Speed cameras have been put up along the M20 from Junction 10.

The infrastructure for average speed cameras have been placed along the coast-bound motorway in preparation for the roadworks taking place, however the cameras are not yet operational.

Junction 10a construction began earlier this year, ten years after the plans were originally put forward.

The major project is set to ease congestion at Junction 10 and will see two new roundabouts built - one over the motorway and just 700 metres away from the current one and the second close to the Ashford Retail Park on Barrey Road.

A two-way link road is also being created between the two new roundabouts.

The £104 million project, which was given the go-ahead in December, is set to be completed by 2020.

A spokesman for Highways England said: "A major scheme is starting at Junction 10. Generally, we do put in average speed cameras for the duration of the roadworks and they will be operational soon."
