Boris Johnson, Harry Potter and Doctor Who all made an appearance in Hamstreet – as scarecrows.
A scarecrow trail, featuring detailed designs based on famous characters, was organised by the supporters of the Ruckinge and Hamstreet Scouts and Guides to raise funds for the groups.
Hundreds of residents came out to judge their favourite scarecrow and work out which one was which in a special quiz.
The public then voted for their favourite and Jason Andrews took first prize with his brilliant Dr Who scarecrow.
The group raised more than £600 for the Scouts and Guides.
Margaret Hanlon, part of the supporters group, said: "What was so nice is that there were hundreds of people out looking at them.
"The feedback was great, they all said that it was brilliant and we should do it again next year.
"It was great fun, really sociable and brought the village together, it was really buzzing."
The event was sponsored by Annings Motors, Hamstreet, Aristocats Cattery, Snave, Hamstreet Garden Centre and Your Move estate agents.
Margaret added: "We want to say a huge thank you to our sponsors and everyone who came along and supported.
"We are very proud of the Scouts and Guides in our area and so grateful to everyone who got involved."
