Stanhope celebrates two years of change

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

A celebration of community was held in Stanhope as the
estate marked two years of rapid change.

Residents enjoyed free hot dogs, a raffle and live music at the
event which marks a turning point in the estate’s future.

In 2007 Ashford Borough Council agreed a £150 million deal to
completely transform the neighbourhood.

The past two years have seen houses gutted and refitted,
communal areas landscaped and numerous community schemes launched
in a bid to breathe life back into the area.

By 2012 the scheme will see 323 homes refurbished and the
replacement of seven blocks of apartments with 442 high-quality
homes.

A new library and community centre are also being built.
