A POLICE search that was launched after the discovery of a body near a Kent motorway has been completed.
A decomposed body was found in woodland near junction 9 of the M20, behind Sainsbury's in Ashford's Warren Retail Park on Wednesday, July 11.
The detailed search of the area has involved around 100 police officers.
The discovery was made by officers investigating the disappearance of 19-year-old Ashley Dighton, who was last seen on June 11.
Det Ch Insp Martin Harris said: "Significant evidence has been found during the search, however, while there is a strong possibility that the body is that of Ashley Dighton, we can't say this beyond reasonable doubt at this stage.
"The investigation has been very distressing for Ashley's family, particularly as there is no clear conclusion yet, so we would still urge anyone with information to contact police immediately."
Mr Dighton was last seen in a grey-green hooded top on his way to the Sainsbury's supermarket. He is described as 5ft 7in tall, of slim build with dark-green eyes and dark-brown hair.
He has two tattoos: the word SKA on his right arm and a Tweetie Pie on his left shoulder.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Kent Police incident room on 01622 654860 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
