Another apology has been issued to members of the public as it emerged the main Stour Centre pool would remain closed until Monday.
Ashford Leisure Trust, which manages the £17m facility in Tannery Lane on behalf of Ashford Borough Council, was forced to close all three of its pools after a fault with the heating system on Sunday.
This morning the trust said the fault with the heating was operational but it would take a few days to warm up all of the pools to the right temperature. As a result the main pool and learner pool will remain closed this weekend.
Spokesman Steve Fish said: “The heat exchangers which caused the problem with the heating to our swimming pools at the Stour Centre are fully operational once again. Unfortunately it will continue to take a number of days for the pools to reach desired minimum ambient temperatures.”
The leisure pool and flumes should be open at 4.30pm this evening, from 9am until 4pm tomorrow and from 9am until 4pm on Sunday.
The main pool will reopen at 6.30am on Monday (December 3).
Trust chief executive Emma Wood said: “The trust would like to apologise once again to all members of the public affected by the closure to our swimming pools. “This was an unforeseeable component failure which has been rectified by our contractors as quickly as was possible. Unfortunately there is a delay implicit with the re-opening of the pools due to the time taken to restore the pools to ambient temperatures.”
