CHILDREN and adults who would like to take part in Folkestone's Charivari Day street carnival are invited to make themselves a costume this weekend.
Workshops are to be held at the George's House art gallery in the Old High Street for those who want to be part of the fun.
The noisy, lively event is now in its seventh year and involves hundreds of people in colourful and amazing costumes parading from the harbour to The Leas. The theme of this year's event is World Orchestra - with all costumes having a musical theme. Workshops on Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14, will be from 11am-6pm. Further workshops take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 16, 17 and 18, between 3pm and 8pm.
At the workshops artists will be on hand to lend advice and assistance in creating costumes. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and a £1 contribution would be appreciated.
Charivari Day hits the streets on Saturday July 20. The procession leaves The Stade at 2.30pm and makes its way around the town, before ending at the bandstand on The Leas, at about 3.45pm, where the music will continue until 6pm.
There will then be music at the coastal park amphitheatre from 7-10pm with a salsa band and a group called Bloco Electro..
