The VW Golf led police on a “long pursuit” but was eventually stopped in a neighbouring village.

A force spokesman said: “During a patrol by officers from the Rural Task Force in the Charing area on Monday evening, a vehicle failed to stop when requested to do so.

“The car was pursued and stopped following the deployment of a stinger near Hothfield and a 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

“The vehicle has been seized, along with a quantity of suspected cocaine, and the suspect has been bailed pending further inquiries.”

Stingers are spikes in the road used by police to stop vehicles.
