There was severe congestion in Great Chart after a car flipped onto its roof at rush hour.

The red vehicle overturned in the A28 Chart Road near Lodge Place at 3.30pm on Thursday.

Traffic built up in the area because one lane had to be closed until emergency services reached the scene.

The female driver was taken to the William Harvey Hospital suffering from arm injuries and shock.

Police were able to reopen the road by 6.15pm.
