A teenager with a festive name and a Boxing Day birthday has become the first person in Ashford to win a Christmas competition being run by our radio station kmfm.
Holly Diamond, 18, won £500 to spend in the town’s County Square shopping centre by playing Free Money Fridays on the Drivetime show with presenter Rob Wills.
The youngster, who lives with her mum, stepdad, brother and grandad in Brookfield, said winning the competition means her family will be able to enjoy Christmas and she was able to treat her mum.
Holly, who works at the Julie Rose Stadium and Pukka Fish in Willesborough and is studying for a sports degree, said: “I’m so happy. When I told my mum I’d won, she cried! It’s going to make everything much easier this Christmas.
“I told my mum and sister: ‘Pick something you want,’ and the rest went on Christmas presents. It’s saved me lots of money.”
When asked what one purchase she was most happy with, Holly replied: “I know it sounds really random but I bought my mum some expensive make-up. That’s the one that means the most. It was good she was able to treat herself.”
Lesley Vella-Tomlin, County Square marketing and commercialisation co-ordinator, said: “With a name like hers and a birthday on Boxing Day, she was absolutely delighted!”
To play Free Money Fridays kmfm listeners register online then one person is called back at random every Friday and asked a festive question.
Holly was asked which character Macaulay Culkin played in Christmas movie Home Alone and correctly answered, Kevin.
