Police are hunting two men following the mugging of a teenager.

The 18-year-old woman was found semi- conscious by a public phone box in St Stephens Walk, South Ashford, at 2am on Tuesday, January 6.

She had been walking home alone the evening before.

At 10.45pm she was in Beaver Road and passed the Murco Garage and Brookfield shops and was aware of two men following her.

It is known that she walked through an alley at the back of the shops, still being followed.

It is unclear what happened next, but it is believed she was knocked to the ground and robbed of her phone and cash in the area of St Anne’s Park, off St Anne’s Road and St Stephen’s Walk.

She was helped to the phone box by a man who called the ambulance service before leaving the area.

She has described the men to police.

Both were aged 22-29. The first was 6ft tall, stocky build, bearded, wearing a dark woolly hat possibly with the word 'Thinsulate’ on the front, white/cream coloured zip up hooded top with the words 'Echo’ in grey writing on the front. The second was slightly shorter, of medium build, southern accent, brown hair, tattoo of a name beginning with 'A’ and wearing a grey and white striped and zigzag patterned woollen hat with tassels, dark hooded jacket, blue jeans and white trainers with blue lines.

Det Sgt Bill Thornton, said: “This is an unusual incident. I would particularly like to speak to the man who helped the woman and called the ambulance but left before the ambulance arrived. He may have information that will help up piece together what took place.”
