The Freedom of the Borough is being awarded to the 133 Field Company REME (V).
The Territorial Army unit, based in Chart Road, Ashford, will receive Ashford borough’s highest accolade in a ceremony at the Civic Centre on Thursday evening.
It is the highest award that can be given by a local authority to a military unit and the presentation coincides with the Territorial Army’s centenary anniversary this year.
Mayor John Link will present the award as the council formally demonstrates its support and thanks to the 133 Field Company REME (V) with whom a significant number of Ashford residents have served.
