Leon Camier is relishing this weekend’s third round of the World Superbike Championship at Assen.
The Ashford-born 25-year-old heads for the Dutch circuit boosted by his superb test performance at the Imola circuit in Italy a fortnight ago, when he broke the World Superbike lap record during a test session with his Crescent FIXI Suzuki team using a new Yoshimura-powered GSX-R1000 engine.
Camier (pictured) said: “We made some real progress at Imola. Assen is a track I have always enjoyed riding and I’ve gone well there in the past. Last year I got the fastest lap and was only about a tenth of a second off the lap record.”
Camier is lying in 14th place with 12 points following the opening two rounds of the World Superbike Championship.
In the second round at Imola, he retired from the first race after making contact with another rider on the fourth lap and in the second race finished eighth.
