Residents say they are “scared to go to bed at night” after their road was hit with a “third flood in three weeks”.
Dalice Wigg, of Ashford Road, Kingsnorth, Ashford, says “most of the street is flooded” after a pipe outside her property burst this afternoon.
Last month, residents woke up to water gushing outside their homes, leaving a number of gardens and driveways flooded.
Mrs Wigg told KentOnline the whole street has “come together” to help prevent the water going into properties today.
“This is the third flood we’ve had in the last three weeks,” she said.
“Luckily no water is in the house at the moment because the whole street is on high alert.
“My husband works for a pumping company and he has got hold of a pump. We are pumping the water out ourselves.”
South East Water teams are at the scene of the incident and have turned off the mains.
Mrs Wigg, who has lived there for the past 14 years, says this is “the first time she has seen anything like this”.
She added: “I’ve been scared to go to bed in case we get another flood.
“Most of the road is flooded and everyone is chipping in to try and help. Some people have had water come into their houses today.
“Luckily the water is not in ours.”
It has been reported that a lorry came to fill in a hole on the road today and burst the pipe.
Kevin Pantrey, whose basement filled up with water last month, said at the time he was “amazed at how much can come out of a small pipe”.
“My basement is completely flooded – it’s about 18 inches deep,” he said.
“There’s water coming out of plug sockets, it’s pouring through the wall, it’s pouring off the top of the wall of the cellar itself.
“There’s so much water, it’s unbelievable.”
South East Water’s Distribution Manager, Adam Newbury, said: We’re really sorry to residents in Ashford Road, Kingsnorth, who experienced no water and flooding due to a burst main in the area.
“The team isolated the burst at around 5pm and rerouted water from other areas to keep the affected customers in supply while we carry out the repair.
“Once again, we’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
