Ashford Town remain in limbo despite the courts finally putting a stop to the boardroom feud.
Tony Betteridge (pictured), who owned a 50 per cent share of the club, was awarded sole ownership of the club after their off-field turmoil came to a head on Thursday when Don Crosbie’s case for going into administration was heard at the Royal Courts of Justice.
Manager Steve Lovell was keen to get assurances before the weekend that there would be football next season at Homelands, but a statement on the club’s official website made it clear that Mr Betteridge was unable to move the situation on further.
The statement said: “Tony was keen to stress that after the court case ended on Thursday he wanted to speak to Kent FA and Ryman League about a league for this coming season, unfortunately the appeal process took away any time to sign legal documents on Friday meaning at the current time ATFC is run by the administrator. Due to the processes nothing can happen until Monday.”
There is still no clarification over whether Ashford are in a position to pay Ebbsfleet the £2,000 owed to them, which would free the club from their current playing suspension.
The statement added: “Tony hopes that there will be football for Ashford Town this season but time is not on his side.”
Manager Steve Lovell appears willing to hold fire, despite previously saying the squad would be broken up on Sunday unless decisions were made.
