Tony Reynolds back at Ashford Town
Tony Reynolds has been unveiled as the new manager of Ashford Town.
Reynolds, a former player and manager at the club, arrives with former player Paul Chambers in tow as the club embark on a new era.
Town fans have endured a summer of turmoil after the club was successfully wound-up by Tony Betteridge in the High Court following their earlier Ryman League resignation.
Reynolds – or Rambo, to fans – has managed Ashford Town and Welling United in the past and rejoins the club after a spell as manager in 2004.
Reynolds said he was excited and delighted to be back at Homelands and anxious to get the town club back on its feet again.
He said: "We want to get Ashford Town back on the map.
"It’s a club with such a rich history. People like Alan and Audrey Lancaster, Ernie Warren and Doug Gillard, they all put so much into this club so it’s so sad to be in the position we are now.
"We want to get the club back to where it belongs.
"We don’t know if we’ll be in the Kent League but, wherever we are, we want the local support behind us.
"Creating local interest within the town is so important. There’s certainly enough local talent to form a good base of a side.
"It’s no secret that we’ve missed out on a few players from the area in the past, hopefully now we can put that right."
