Greggs is set to open its second site in Ashford this summer after plans for the bakery were approved.
The chain is set to fill the former Carphone Warehouse store on the Ashford Retail Park.
It already has a branch in the high street but will soon add the empty unit between Hobbycraft and Costa to its portfolio.
While an exact date has not yet been confirmed, bosses say the site should be ready in time for a summer opening.
A spokeswoman from Greggs added: “We can confirm that we’re due to open a new shop in Ashford Retail Park this summer, and will share more information in due course.”
When the plans were announced it split opinion among shoppers on the estate, which is home to numerous businesses – including TK Maxx and Argos – and becomes badly congested at times.
Many felt it would be a good addition to the estate while others thought it would make traffic worse.
In 2018, Greggs was looking at opening a bakery off Canterbury Road in Kennington, but Aldi now owns the site.
