Officers appeal to find owners of suspected stolen power tools following raid in Swattenden

More than £1 million worth of suspected stolen tools have been found during a search for one power drill.

The owner had attached a tracker to the drill as they had been previously targeted by thieves which led police officers to raid an address in Swattenden, near Cranbrook.

Along with their colleagues from Thames Valley Police, officers seized more than 3,500 suspected stolen items, including a quad bike taken from Ashford and six caravans stolen from Bristol, Wales, Southampton, Staffordshire and Sussex.

Other items recovered are drills and impact drills, saws, angle grinders, multi-tools, nail guns, generators, disc cutters, hand tools, garden power tools, laser levels, batteries, chargers and radios.

The tools are from brands such as DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Bosch, Hitachi and Stihl.

Following the discovery, five men, between 18 and 44 years old, have been arrested alongside a 19-year-old woman and 17-year-old boy on suspicion of multiple offences relating to theft.

They have since been bailed pending further investigations.

Officers have now finished cataloguing the items since recovering them on April 26 and believe their combined value is more than £1 million.

They are keen to identify the rightful owners of the tools and ask anyone who might have been a victim of theft to get in touch if they believe their property may have been recovered as part of this operation.

To claim an item, applicants need to email Op.Thames@kent.police.uk with either proof of purchase, serial number(s), or details of unique identifying features.

If the item has been reported stolen, the crime reference number, date and location of the theft should also be provided.

The email address will remain open until 11.59pm on Sunday, July 21.
