Ashford's Crooksfoot Tesco Extra shoppers stuck in car park for more than an hour

Shoppers have had to wait over an hour to leave a supermarket car park.

Reports have offered conflicting causes for why it's so difficult to leave the Crooksfoot Tesco Extra in Ashford, however a crash on the A2070 Bad Munstereifel road is being pointed at as the main reason.

Shoppers have been stuck in the car park for more than an hour

One person stuck in the traffic chaos, Kim Moon, said on Facebook: "I would avoid top Tesco if I was anyone.

"Been sat here for over an hour trying to get out. There's been a crash on the A2070 which is only one lane, causing delays all over this part of Ashford.

"Hope everyone is okay but would avoid."

A twitter user had contacted KCC Highways suggesting the traffic light on the M20 J10 weren't working, however Highways England have said they are unaware of any issues.

The roads authority did say they'll be sending out an engineer to ensure there are no signalling issues.

Kent Police revealed there had been a crash, but that it had been cleared more than an hour ago.

A spokeswoman said: "Kent Police was called at 12.12pm on Friday, October 25 to the A2070 in Sevington, Ashford following reports of a collision involving a car and a lorry.

"No injuries were reported and the road was clear by 12.34pm."
