High-speed rail services have been brought to a standstill due to electrical supply issues.

Trains between Ashford and Ebbsfleet International have not been running due to damage to overhead wires.

Customers wanting to travel from Ashford to London are being encouraged to use the mainline service.

On its website, Southeastern says: “Trains between Ebbsfleet International and Ashford International may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised due to damage to the overhead electric wires.”

The company also posted on X: “Due to a failure of electricity supply, trains are currently unable to run between Ebbsfleet International and Ashford.

“The teams continue to investigate the power issues outside of Ebbsfleet.

“If you are travelling between Ashford and London, you can use our mainline services via Tonbridge and Maidstone at no extra cost.”

A further update said: “Trains will be able to use one track to run in both directions - this will result in delays to services while they wait for the track to be clear.”
