A group of travellers have pitched up on a public field popular with dog walkers.
Police are in attendance at the Kingsnorth Recreation Centre in Ashford where around 10 caravans and vehicles have been spotted.
The field is directly behind the facility, which is home to the Little Acorn Nursery and used for events.
Cllr Katrina Giles (Green) posted online: “ I am aware that a group of travellers have set up camp on the grass behind the Kingsnorth Recreation Centre.
“The police have been informed and are onsite.
“Please do not engage but allow the police and authorities to communicate and work with them.”
A spokesperson for Ashford Borough Council (ABC) said: “Along with the police, officers from Ashford Borough Council have been out to the site this morning to undertake welfare checks and issue notices to leave the land or bailiffs will be called.
“We will check on the site tomorrow morning and if they are still there the bailiffs will be called in to help disperse the encampment.”
Police are assisting the landowner and will provide support where required.
