A televised appeal for help to track down the killers of a murdered Ashford teenager will be broadcast tonight.

It is now more than a year since the body of 19-year-old Ashley Dighton, of Nine Acres, Kennington, was discovered dumped in woodland.

His headless body was found behind Sainsbury’s on the Warren Retail Park in Ashford.

Tonight’s programme will feature an interview with Ashley’s father Ambrose.

The Dighton family are desperate to see someone convicted for the brutal murder.

Mr Dighton is hoping that the wall of silence will be broken after the appeal on the Inside Crime programme which will be broadcast on Meridian at 11pm.

As well as the family the programme also includes an interview with Det Ch Insp Dave Withers, the senior police officer heading the murder inquiry, and locations where the brutal attack on Ashley is believed to have taken place.

Ashley was last seen on June 11, 2007, outside the entrance to Sainsbury’s in Simone Weil Avenue. Police believe that he was attacked and killed in the nearby wooded area where his decomposed body was found on July 11.

Mr Dighton, said: “It is all taking so long to solve and I have to keep myself together as head of a large family, but I will not rest until the killer is behind bars.

“All we can do is wait and hope that somebody out there comes forward with the vital piece of information.

“The police think my son was murdered by someone local. I think there are suspects but it seems there is no DNA or other evidence to link them with the killing.”
