What do TV presenter Alex Brooker, former X Factor finalist Ben Mills and 60s band The Fortunes have in common?

Answer: they will all attend a Valentine’s Day Ball in Ashford.

The party has been organised by Find A Voice (FAV), an Ashford charity dedicated to supporting people with speech, language and communication difficulties.

The ball will include a three course dinner, music, an auction and dancing and will be held at the Ashford International Hotel on Saturday, February 14 from 7pm.

Entertainment will be provided by English group The Fortunes, who first came to prominence in the 1960s with hits including “You’ve Got Your Troubles” and “Here It Comes Again”.

Also singing on the night will be former X Factor contestant Ben Mills, who reached third place on the show in 2006.

Mr Mills, who has had a successful solo career, formed the Rod Stewart revival band, Simply Rod, in 2009 and in October 2011 he was invited by Jim Cregan, guitarist from the original Rod Stewart band, to join his band Cregan & Co as their lead vocalist.

Former Ashford schoolboy and The Last Leg presenter Alex Brooker, who helped cover the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012, will guest star at the event.

Mr Brooker, formerly of Willesborough, is a friend of the charity, having grown up with the charity's president Alastair Dutch’s son, Graham.

Mr Dutch said: “We’re really excited about the Valentine’s Day Ball. We want to raise awareness of Find A Voice and give people a good time.

“We’re changing the focus of FAV slightly. We want to help older people who have had a stroke or dementia who need to learn to communicate with their families again.We can supply equipment for this.”

“We hope people will come along and have fun. We’ve got something for everyone.”

Tickets cost £50 per person for the whole evening, or £450 for a table of 10.

There are also some tickets available at £15 each just to see the acts, who will start at 9.15pm.
