A woman had to be cut from her car in one of two accidents at the same spot on the A28.

The first occurred just after midday on Sunday when the woman's Mini Metro collided with a Jaguar on the bend between the Bull Inn, Bethersden, and High Halden, near Tenterden.

Two fire crews from Ashford and Tenterden had to cut her out of her car and she was taken to the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, with minor hip and leg injuries.

The woman is believed to have been in her 60s or 70s.

A second collision happened at exactly the same spot at 2.45pm between a Fiat Punto and a Saab 9000.

Fire crews, police and ambulances were called to each crash and the road was closed following the second incident until around 3.45pm.

A fire service spokesman said: "The roads have been slippery today and that is a very dangerous stretch."

Kent Police have launched investigations into the cause of both crashes.
