Man in 40s dies and two men arrested after crash which closed A20 Hythe Road in Mersham le Hatch, near Ashford

A man has died and two men have been arrested following a crash.

Police were called to the A20 Hythe Road in Mersham le Hatch, near Ashford, just after 11.15pm to a report that a pedestrian had sustained serious injuries, near to the junction with The Street.

Paramedics also attended and a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

Shortly after midnight, a damaged Silver Honda Jazz was recovered by officers in the Osborne Road area of Willesborough - almost three miles away - and two men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

They remain in custody while inquiries continue.

The road was closed while an investigation was carried out by opened shortly after 7am.

Investigators are urging anyone with relevant information, who may have been in the area at the time - including local residents with private CCTV and drivers with dashcam - to come forward.
