Police have arrested two men on suspicion of going equipped to steal in a crackdown on rural crime.

Rural Task Force officers stopped the two men, age 22 and 28, in Blind Lane, Challock on Friday around 12.30pm.

One of the men was already wanted on suspicion of theft.

Officers searched the vehicle and found items that gave them grounds to arrest them both on suspicion of going equipped to steal.

PC Michael Laidlow said "We regularly do road checks in those areas where we suspect criminals are targeting farms and villages.

"Our presence and the regular arrests from this type of enforcement should reassure our rural communities that we remain vigilant on their behalf."

Both men were bailed until Thursday, October 27 pending further enquiries.
