Two people have been hospitalised following a serious crash that closed the M20 in both directions.
A massive emergency service presence attended the scene of the incident between junction 9 for Ashford and junction 8 Maidstone Services.
An ambulance vehicle has flipped in the crash, and three other cars appear to have crashed into the barrier.
All traffic was being held on the London-bound carriageway while police and ambulance services attend to the scene.
Coast-bound cars were temporarily allowed through but the carriageway before being shut with diversions in place.
Both carriageways have now been reopened and traffic is being allowed through.
A police spokesperson said: "Kent Police was called to a collision on the M20 Londonbound, near to junction 9, at around 8.40am involving four vehicles.
"Officers are at the scene along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service following a report of injuries.
"The road is currently closed to assist with vehicle recovery."
An ambulance spokesman said: "Ambulance services attended a serious crash on the M20 London-bound that involved a private ambulance vehicle.
"Two people were taken to the William Harvey Hospital for further treatment following the incident."
