Vandals have smashed up new fishing platforms that were installed at Singleton Lake for disabled fishermen.
Pupils studying fish husbandry at The North School had built platforms at the lake off Bucksford Lane to be used by members of Ashford Angling Society.
The project was being paid for with £5,500 of funding from county councillor Jim Wedgbury, along with further funding from Great Chart with Singleton Parish Council.
Six platforms had been built, of the 36 or so proposed, but angling society bailiffs were dismayed to discover the two new disabled fishing platforms had been vandalised on Monday evening.
Society chairman Alan Sandom said: “I really can’t understand the mentally of the people. This is just pure vandalism.”
Society member David Robinson added: “After all the hard work done by the North School boys and the club down there, it’s so frustrating that it’s been undone by the mindless few.”
Mr Sandom said the group would inform a police community support officer of the damage.
