Shopkeeper Veerasingam Senthooran hurls a Lucozade bottle at the raider

This is the dramatic moment a brave shopkeeper fought off a knife-wielding masked raider - by pelting him with a bottle of Lucozade.

Courageous Veerasingam Senthooran grabbed the plastic bottle from the counter when the intruder burst into his Ashford store.

CCTV footage shows the startled raider immediately backing away as the 31-year-old reached for other objects to throw at him, including a bottle of alcohol.

The would-be robber - carrying a large kitchen knife - turned on his heels and ran out of the Stanhope Mini Market, in Speldhurst Close, Stanhope, empty handed.
