alleyway

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a
woman was attacked in an alleyway.

The incident happened just before 6.45pm last night between
Christchurch Road and Godfrey Walk, Ashford.

The woman, named locally as Susy and in her 40s, was taken to
the William Harvey Hospital, where she later died.

A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "I knew her but
I didn't see or hear anything. The first I knew of it was when I
came home last night at about 10.30pm and the police had taped the
alleyway off. Nobody was allowed down it so I had to walk all the
way round from Christchurch Road into Godfrey Walk."
