Video: Young performers prepare for stadium festival

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

The Julie Rose Stadium is hosting a Summer Diversity Festival on
Saturday.

The event includes a battle of the bands, a talent competition
and sports and is aimed at 11 to 19-year-olds.

There will be cheerleading and music workshops, African dance
and drumming, laser quest, a climbing wall, giant puzzle zone and
wax art, plus sports for all abilities including wheelchair
basketball, football, judo, boccia, sitting volleyball, goal ball
and athletics.

Entertainment includes 2007 X-Factor finalist Ashley McKenzie
and professional performers Doctor, Hot Property, FataliQ and
Jahson.

Also performing from their new mix tape will be Ashford
musicians Blitz, aka Nicky Curtis, 20, and Money B, aka Bruno
Mukuze, 18.

The pair have spent the past three years being supported by
local musician Blade.

Money B, who has turned his bedroom in his Kennington home into
a recording studio, received a Try Angle Award earlier this year
and, along with a range of music projects, both have had their own
T-shirts printed in order to sell and to promote themselves as
artists.

Asked what they were hoping to achieve by performing at
Diversity, Money B said: “To show other young people it’s possible
to achieve if they put the work in.”

Blitz added: “And to stick with it and it will grow into
something bigger and better.”

Festival gates open at 11am and band and talent performances run
from noon to 6pm.

Entry is free but tickets need to be booked in advance on 01622
