Police are warning hauliers and motorists to consider delaying or re-routing their journeys tomorrow as Kent prepares to implement Operation Stack.
French port control operators have threatened a 24-hour strike at Calais and Boulogne starting at 7am, which will mean no ferries will be able to berth at the French ports.
Unless the strike is called off, police expect to implement Phase 2 of Operation Stack from 5am, which will mean HGVs bound for the ports will be queued on the M20 between junctions 8 (Hollingbourne) and 9 (Ashford). Extra traffic is expected in Maidstone and Ashford as a result.
