The weather has hit rubbish collections in Shepway.

Council spokesman Owain East said workers were trying to make refuse and recycling collections in the flat areas of Folkestone today (Thursday) but would not be collecting in other areas such as Brenzett and Brookland.

He added: "They will be collecting along Canterbury Road, Densole, but will probably not get to any others parts of the village."

Householders are asked to still leave their wheeled bins out for collection as they could be emptied at any time to catch up.

Meanwhile, the snow has forced the closure of Hythe swimming pool today.

The public session from 12.30pm to 1.30pm will still run as normal but the pool will close after 1.30pm.

Swimming lessons this evening have been cancelled and Hythe Aqua has also cancelled their scheduled session.

The pool will reopen on Friday depending on the weather.

For further information contact the pool on 01303 269177 or call 01303 853251 before travelling.
