TWO killers remain at large despite police appeals for help in solving two murders in a Kent town in recent months.

Teenager Ashley Dighton’s body was found in woods behind Sainsbury’s on the Warren Retail Park in Ashford in June and Albert Bishop, 74, died in hospital after being attacked with a hammer at his home in Willesborough in March.

The victims’ families are desperate for a breakthrough and have urged anyone with information, or who may be protecting the killers, to come forward.

Ashley’s father Ambrose said: “I will not rest until this is solved.”

Despite numerous appeals detectives remain baffled by the lack of public response which could help them solve the crimes. But the officers stress that investigations are still ongoing and they are determined to catch the pair’s killers.

Mr Dighton of Nine Acres, Kennington, and his family are still mourning the loss of his son Ashley, 19, who went missing on June 11 and was identified three months later after his body found.

Mr Dighton said: “Someone has information. I understand police have taken people in for questioning and they seem to be doing their best to find his killer but I will not rest until this is solved.

“Somebody knows about this attack on my son and they should come forward and help the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ch Insp Dave Withers on 01622 654860 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.

Det Insp Lee Whitehead, who is heading the hunt for the killer of 74-year-old Albert `Taffy’ Bishop, is facing a similar wall of silence.

Mr Bishop was attacked at his home in Hythe Road, Willesborough, by a man in his 50s and severely beaten about the head with a hammer. He died in hospital on June 30.

Despite numerous appeals by police and his family nobody has come forward with significant leads to help the investigation.

Anyone who can help in this investigation is asked to contact the incident room on 01303 289600.
