The mysterious lucky owner of a winning Lotto prize of over £73,000 that went unclaimed has been found.
An unknown player who bought the ticket in Ashford remained unaware they were sitting on a pile of cash, after buying a winning ticket to the draw held on Saturday, August 11 - the last day of the Olympics.
Nationally lottery owners Camelot put out an appeal to trace the ticket holder, who matched five numbers and the bonus ball, raking in £73,263.
The winning numbers on that date were 1, 5, 14, 18, 34, 44 and the bonus ball was 23.
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win.
"It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-enhancing amount of money. We would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets every time they play.”
