Scott Porter saw his Hythe team climb into the top 10 after back-to-back home wins but knows the hard work has only just begun.
Hythe followed up Saturday’s 3-1 win over Merstham with a 4-0 thrashing of Whyteleafe on Tuesday night.
Those wins have lifted Porter’s side up to eighth – their highest position so far in Ryman League, Division 1 South – and they next face a testing visit to fifth-place Worthing on Saturday.
Porter (pictured) said: “We said last week we wanted to take six points from the two home games and that’s what we’ve done.
“The lads were fantastic and confidence is high. The players are playing to the best of their ability and people are peaking at the right time.
“We’ve got a busy Christmas period coming up. We’ve got two tough games next, against Worthing and then (second placed) Dulwich, before a lot of Kent derbies. Hopefully, we can keep this run going.
“We want to stay where we are now but need to work twice as hard to do that.”
Hythe are sitting invitingly close to the play-off places but Porter isn’t looking too far ahead.
He said: “We are not going to be getting carried away and if we can keep pushing forward, then so be it."
Nick Barnes (calf) and John Walker (rib) are doubts for the weekend but Laurence Harvey has been recalled from his loan spell at Ashford United.
