A woman died in a Pizza Express restaurant following a medical episode.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the tragedy occurred in the Ashford Designer Outlet branch on Friday.

Emergency services were called to reports of a person in need of medical attention just before 3.30pm.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We attended but sadly despite the efforts of all those involved, the woman died at the scene.”

A Pizza Express spokesperson added: “We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends and our thoughts are with them during this very difficult time.”

The Designer Outlet has also been contacted for comment.
