A young woman has survived after reportedly jumping from the roof of an Ashford supermarket.
The 21-year-old from Ashford is in a London hospital with serious injuries, including fractured ankles and a pelvis injury.
She plunged around 30ft from the top of Waitrose, in Sir Bernard Paget Avenue, yesterday.
Ambulance crews were first called to the store at 4.35pm following concerns for a woman who was at the top of the building.
More than half-a-dozen police officers were also called to the superstore and cordoned off an area close to the Repton Avenue entrance.
A forensic unit was also spotted at the scene.
A police spokesman said yesterday: "Kent Police is dealing with an incident where a woman has reportedly jumped from the Waitrose building in Ashford.
"The woman is currently being treated by paramedics in Repton Avenue. The incident happened around 5.30pm.
"Road closures are in place around the area and the air ambulance has been called."
She was treated by paramedics before being taken to King’s College Hospital in London by ambulance.
The three-storey building is about 30ft, with the store on the ground floor and flats on the second and third.
It forms part of the Repton Park estate.
It is not yet known how the woman got on the roof.
