A man has been charged after a woman was mugged near an Asda store.

The woman, in her 50s, was walking along a footpath near Kimberley Way, Ashford, when she was approached by a man.

He then reportedly struck her before stealing her handbag which contained her purse.

It happened on the morning of Wednesday, August 31.

Stuart Olson of Elm Close, Ashford, has since been charged with robbery.

The 40-year-old appeared at Folkestone Magistrates' Court on September 2 and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on October 3.
