A woman has been talked down from a bridge over an Ashford dual carriageway by police negotiators early today.
Bad Munstereifel Road was shut in both directions for several hours while the 46-year-old was on the wrong side of the railings.
Police received reports of fears for the woman's safety at 3.20am and a negotiator was called to the scene.
A spokesman said she was persuaded to come down from the bridge and has now been taken to hospital for assessment.
The road was reopened by 7.45am
The incident saw the closure by police in both directions of the busy dual carriageway (A2070) that links the M20 to the Romney Marsh Road.
