A woman suffered burns to her hands after a dirty pan caught fire in a South Ashford kitchen.
Fire crews were called to Cressfield at around 6.30pm last night to a report a fire had started in an oven.
The occupant of the flat had burnt herself trying to remove the tray from the cooker.
Watch manager Mark Thomas said: "The woman left a pan in the oven, which then caught fire. She suffered burns when trying to get it out.
"We would urge people to try and maintain clean cooking equipment to reduce the risk of grease and dirt catching fire.
"Also, never try and stop the fire by yourself. Get out, call us, and stay out."
Firefighters were also called to The Warren in Ashford last night at around 7pm to a report a car was alight.
The owner had taken his dog for a walk and when he returned found his car in a blaze.
Crews spent 45 minutes at the scene tackling the flames, and described it as a fire of 'doubtful origin'.
