A 21-year-old woman was approached by four females who called her names and then demanded money from her in a threatening way.
The incident occurred as the victim was walking from High Street, Ashford, and turned into the alleyway known as Taylor’s passage, which leads to Park Street.
Police say she was shouted at and handed over all the cash she had. The four women then walked away.
The incident happened somtime between 2pm and 3pm on September 8. Police are now appealing for witnesses.
One of the robbers is described as white, aged between 20-25, 5ft 3in tall, of thin build, and blonde hair. She had a southern accent and was wearing a blue fleece jacket and white pedal pushers.
Another of the women is described as white, aged betwen 20-25, thin build, with very long, curly brown hair. She was wearing a skimpy white top and dark Addidas jogging bottoms.
The incident was seen by two taxi drivers, passers by and shoppers, and the police ask that these people come forward and help with the investigation.
PC Craig Malthouse said: "It doesn’t matter how much or how little witnesses remember about the incident. All information is important in building up a picture of the crime.”
