WORK on junction 10 of the M20 at Ashford will start in August or September and is set to last until next June.

It aims to allow more traffic to use the junction, by providing an extra lane, widening the slip roads, putting traffic lights at the junction of Hythe Road and the London-bound slip road and providing a new footbridge.

The work is being carried out by the Highways Agency and paid for by developers.

It is expected to reduce congestion for the next seven years, after which the plan is to build a new junction to the east of junction 10 to cope with increasing traffic volumes.
